Wedding receptions are not as formal as they once were, more and more couples are foregoing the expensive catered wedding receptions and coming up with some innovative ideas on how to throw them.  

Wedding receptions were traditionally held at the house of the parents of the bride, or in another part of the church, or a rented hall.

It was a mark of your class to show how much one could spend on a wedding, and the reception had to be the shindig of the year.

Now couples are opting to have potlucks in the park or barbeques on the beach. If you choose an outdoor reception, you will need to have a contingency plan if bad weather should occur.

One of our favorite locations is Chateau Elan.   Owing to it’s precisely manicured lawns and hedges, not to mention the grand atrium.  Its large windows are french doors overlooking the downstairs reception area make for a spectacular sunset event.   Or the Atlanta Botanical Gardens  the sweet smells of the flora and fauna, the magnificent water feature in front of Mershon Hall, and the breath taking cascade gardens are but a few of the splendid venues in which to tye the knot.

One guest offered this comment; “What a great little spot in the heart of Atlanta. I went in mid-fall so I am sure it’s even more beautiful in the summer, but I found it to be really peaceful and quiet — it forced me to be reflective and just take in nature”. 

Then there is the quaint Bradford House and Gardens  Not just for the ceremony, but the reception as well.  Offering southern charm on 7 acres and fresh blooms abounding everywhere.  There are so many others to choose in our theme  on receptions and venues. Reception themes can be based on personality, individual characteristics, hobbies, hopes, and dreams. Other possibilities could be themes based on a popular movie, sports, etc.

The options are endless for planning a theme-based reception. Whichever you choose for your wedding reception, keep it simple, keep a sense of humor, and enjoy your special day.
